The movie “Het bijzonder banale leven” is based on the reality of life, but seems to be rather surreal. I tried to create a reproduction of the everyday life by using common objects in a recognizable but unusual context. I am really surprised and honored to win this prize because this is only one of my first steps in filmmaking. The video is made in the house where I live with my parents. I am the main character of this video (and also of most of my other works). The dominating colour is vulnerable white, because I am grown up in a family with a very minimalistic point of view. This perspective has influenced my work enormously. The whole video is filmed on a tripod, except for the shots where you can see my feet.
