Firstly, I thank God for the opportunity to have participated in such a big contest like the Nikon Photo Contest 2014-2015, and for all the help and wisdom in the expression of life of the Urbina family through this medium. I thank my family for their support, all of my friends, siblings, and professors that made this award possible. I'd also like to thank Nikon for providing spaces like these to project stories and share what happens in every part of the world with photography and video. This video was shot in the Pizarral region of the Paraguaná Peninsula in Falcón state, Venezuela, in a natural setting with an abundance of xerophyte vegetation, farm animals such as goats, kids, sheep, birdsong, the region’s strong breeze, and the gorgeous sunsets that melt into starry skies. It must be pointed out that, despite what they lack economically-speaking, the Urbina family shares a profound love between themselves and their natural environment, treasuring every resource that nature provides, and meeting all who draw near their home with friendliness and courtesy. This is an environment where one can breathe in peace, tranquility, and the immense cultural richness, customs, and traditions of the region. The entire shoot was carried out over a single day of filming, during which each person shown in the video gave their bits as they are, without any kind of directing or set-up. In this sense, my family was a part of the production team in mobilization, transportation of equipment, meals, and above all, their support from beginning to end.
