This series of images I made in June 2014 of the Peruvian Quyllur rit'i festival. Taking place every year and Lasting 4 days, the first image shows the route of the pilgrimage and the stunning scenery in this part of Peru, 300 kms south of Cuzco. The last four images show the final part of the festival, the worship of the first rays of light. At an altitude of between 4,000 and 4,500 metres, some 300 kilometres south of Cuzco in the Sinakara Valley, at the foot of the Ausangate mountain range with temperatures ranging between 10 and -12 degrees celsius. The participants in the festival were almost entirely Quechua-speaking indigenous people from the throughout the Altiplano, not only from Peru, but also other countries from Latin America.
