Who will save the Rohingya?
Alain Schroeder

Comment
I am very pleased to receive this prestigious award from Nikon Japan, not only on a personal level but with the hope that it will bring more attention to the Rohingya community in Myanmar subjected to discrimination and human rights violations, stripped of civil rights and freedom of movement, without access to comprehensive medical care or higher education, and who cannot work. While the country's historic turn towards democracy should be encouraging, the plight of the Rohingya is far from over and on the ground the prospects for this traumatized minority look rather grim.
